Ceiling Height

Our technicians carry ladders enabling them to safely work on smoke alarms located on ceilings with a maximum ceiling height of 3 metres (10ft). The standard Australian ceiling height is 2.4m (8ft). Ceiling heights in excess of 3m would require the use of further safety equipment, therfore SATS is unable to service the property.

No charges will be incurred by the landlord for the initial visit made to the property.

Distance of properties from agency

Properties that are located more than 30km from the town/suburb the agent is located in may incur additional charges.

Not having landlord permission to install at annual inspection

At the annual inspection the SATS technician will survey the property to verify that the amount and type of alarms in the property complies with the relevant legislation in that state.
If permission to install alarms, is not granted at the time of the annual inspection, then the property will be deemed non compliant. A full test and service will be carried out on the alarms in the property and the agency will be provided with what is required to be installed to make the property compliant.
No Certificate of Compliance will be issued until the required work is carried out.
If SATS are required to attend the property at a time, other than the annual inspection, to install alarms, then an additional callout fee of $50 will apply.

Security Systems

If the alarms in the property are integrated into a security system, the property will be deemed non compliant and the technician will be instructed to install the most economical alarm to make the property compliant.

Safety switches

If a 240v mains powered smoke alarm needs to be installed or replaced and the meter board in the property doesn’t have the required safety switches for that state, then no work will be carried out until the required work is performed. The agent will be notified and these changes can be performed at an additional charge. No Certificate of Compliance will be issued until the required work is carried out.

Additional Alarms

Additional alarms are installed at the prices indicated for your state on our website in the pricing section. We always install the most economical alarm required to make the property compliant. Our prices for supply and installation of a 240v mains powered alarm are for replacement alarms only. If a new 240v mains powered alarm is required or requested and we are required to run cables etc , additional charges will apply.

Fire Panel

If the alarms in the property are connected to a Fire Panel that is managed by another fire service provider we may choose not to service this alarm, depending on the alarm/panel type and the legislation requirements of that state.

Meter board

If the meter board in the premises, on inspection, is considered by our staff to be unsafe or not adequate for that states legislation, we will notify the agent and not perform any mains powered services until the required work is carried out.
